WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

A total of 0 Women FPOs are promoted by REDS which has a membership strength of more than 0 women farmers including single women and women in vulnerable conditions.
Collective Farming is taken up by REDS under which 0 acres of land is taken on lease and assigned this land to 0 single women. They are collectively cultivating produce like greens and vegetables, millets, pulses and fruits like Banana, Papaya, Custard Apple, Guava etc. While they use a part of its for their domestic consumption, the excess is sold to make them a sustainable income.
Through awareness programmes with the support of REDROPE / RED ALERT, REDS is imparting awareness on women and child safety, human trafficking, self-protection etc., through the programme called “Safe Village Programme”. Under this activity, REDS is forming village level Anti Human Trafficking Committees which included formation of various committees like Rakshaks, Mitras, which are self-supporting to monitor the safety and security against any miscreant elements at the village level. A total of 0 school children and adolescents in 0 villages are covered under this programme.
REDS has set-up two Women Counseling Support Centres one each in Kadiri and Anantapur. REDS is extending legal support to the women suffering from Domestic Violence, trafficked and rescued women, women in other vulnerable conditions and are in need to care and protection. A total of 0 women were rescued from trafficking through collectively conducting rescue operations in coordination with the police in New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune etc.
As on date a total of 0 DV cases are provided with counseling through these centres, of which 0 % cases have been amicably settled.

AGRICULTURE

Due to severe drought conditions in Anantapur and Sri Satya Sai districts agri-based districts have been facing several problems, viz., economic poverty, and severe indebtedness among the farmers leading to farmer suicides and other social issues like mass migration of the communities for want of wage employment leaving behind the women, children and senior citizens in the villages. This is leading to social problems in the villages including family disputes, mis-understanding, violence against women, violation of women rights, child rights etc.
Severe drought conditions, over-exploitation of natural resources like water resources, cutting and felling of trees etc., have also become a severe problem to add to environmental vulnerability.

To overcome these issues REDS has initiated and implemented the following programmes:
  • Agriculture, Natural Resource Management: Promotion of Non Pesticide Management.
  • Natural Farming: Promotion of Natural Farming in two clusters was done. A total of 0 farmers were trained in natural farming aspects.
  • CRZBNF : Implemented in two clusters, i.e., Talapur and Muthyalacheruvuclusers, which included 0 farmers to adopt Zero Budget Natural Farming.
  • RRA : Reutilization of Rainfed Agriculture Programme
  • Promotion of Millets: Promotion of production, procurement, processing and marketing
  • CPR : Common Property Resources Management programme
  • MGNREA: Formation, strengthening of SSS Federations, promoting wage seekers to apply for JOB cards etc.
  • SAYTREES: Distributed fruit bearings at 0 villages of AnanthapurDivision(Kurugunta, Kamarupalli, Thalapuru, Vaddupalli) Total 0 acers with 0 plants and 0 villages of Kadiri division of with 0 plants.
  • Water Security: Water & sanitation, water sharing and village water security initiatives
  • Water Management: Water management village plans were prepared.
  • Support to Farmer in distress: Support and rehabilitation activities for farmer suicide families
  • Borewell Recharge
  • Community Managed Seed System
  • Establishment of Seed Banks
  • Promotion of FPOs: 0 FPOs in Anantapuramu and Sri Satya Sai Districts which includes 0 exclusive women FPOs are formed.

LIVELIHOOD

Livelihood support has been provided to 0 women till date. Different livelihood opportunities are created. Three women have been supported with sewing machine; 0 adolescent girls were trained in tailoring under Usha Saheli programmeand were supplied with sewing machines to make a livelihood. A total of 0 women were trained in Handicraft under Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojana (AHVY) supported by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India.
With the support of different donors several livelihood activities were taken up which include, support of 0 women for undertaking Sheep Rearing activity; supply of milch animals (cows) 0 women.
Through NABARD, a total of 0 women were trained in the preparation of different types of recipes using millets as the base material.

SCHOOLING AND EDUCATION

Towards promotion of schooling and education of children from socially and economically backward communities, REDS has established 0 seasonal hostels, 0 worksite schools.
A total of 0 children were rescued from bonded labour under different drives like Operation Muskan, through ChildLine 0 services.
With the support of Ms. Suma and her team (TV Anchor), a total of 0 children are provided with support for the continuation of their schooling.
During the flooding of Kadiri division in the floods received during the year 2022, a total of 0 children were supported with school material like bags, note books, text book who have lost them due to submerging in the flood water.
Under Community Kitchen programme a total of 0 children of Shikari Families, and the senior citizens falling under the vulnerable conditions were supplied with food for a period of 0 months. With the involvement of SSA, and the Health Services, Anganwadi centres were started in the Shikari Colony, and mobile health services were also extended.

HEALTH

With the support of AID and Azeem Premji Foundation, extensive programme was conducted to combat COVID-19 pandemic in 0 mandals of Anantapur and Sri Satya Sai Districts. Mass campaigns to educate the communities on the spread of COVID, prevention, precautions to be taken were organized. Household visits, fever surveys, visits to isolation centres, supply of items like emergency medical kits like 0 PoP Kits, 0 Oxygen Concentrators, 0 Pulse Oximeters, 0 thermometers, Masks, Sanitizers, etc. were supplied to the medical staff as well as the general public. Counseling services extended.

DISASTER RELIEF & REHABILITATION

During first and second phases of the COVID -19 pandemic, REDS has extensively worked to support the suffering communities. Dry ration kits were supplied to the infected and affected families during the peak period of COVID pandemic to support the socially and economically backward families who have lost their livelihood opportunities as they were not offered any wage employment. A total of more than 0 families were supplied with dry ration kits comprising of 0 different items.
Transport, and temporary shelter were also provided to the migrants walking back to their natives places, along with providing them with food and other basic facilities. A total of 0 migrants were supported.
During the unexpected flooding of 0 mandals in Kadiri division, REDS has initiated rescue and rehabilitation activities in 0 Mandals covering 0 habitations / colonies. These shifted communities were supplied with food, dry ration kits (after they returned home), clothes, bedsheets etc., supply of safe drinking water etc. A total of 0 families were supported under disaster relief and rehabilitation.
